Rajinikanth’s Disaster Gets Madras High Court Green Signal

Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan gets court relief

Rajinikanth‘s animated period action film Kochadaiiyaan directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth was released in the year 2014 and ended up as a terrible failure.

However, a few months ago, the makers of Kochadaiiyaan enhanced the film using AI technologies and announced that the remastered version would hit the screens soon with a trailer. After the re-release announcement, while the Kollywood audience is expecting an update regarding the re-release, there have been no official updates about it.

Sources suggested that a Chennai-based firm filed an appeal against the makers of Kochadaiiyaan to put the re-release on hold. The reason behind this appeal was that when the makers of Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan faced a financial issue during its theatrical release in 2014, this Chennai-based firm offered financial support and in return, they demanded 20 crores.

But unfortunately, due to the underperformance of Kochadaiiyaan at the box office, the makers of Kochadaiiyaan failed to repay them and reportedly, the cheque they gave in return to the Chennai-based firm bounced. Consequently, in 2014 itself, they filed a case against the production house of Kochadaiiyaan and the court ordered the makers to clear the financial issues.

It seems the production house has not cleared the promised amount properly until now. Therefore, when the Kochadaiiyaan team announced the re-release, the Chennai-based firm filed an appeal to put the release on hold.

Recently, when this case came up for hearing in the Madras High Court, the judge, after hearing the arguments of both parties, refused to stay the remastered version’s release, claiming that the money dispute is only between the Chennai-based firm and Mediaone Global Entertainment, which sold the film to Eros International on a first-copy basis. Hence, the judge suggested that holding the release targets the wrong party and Eros International has no connection with this financial issue.

Ultimately, the legal troubles for Kochadaiiyaan have now come to an end. It remains to be seen whether the remastered version of Kochadaiiyaan will have a smooth release and emerge as a successful venture upon its release.
