Green Card Panic

A Green Card applicant was met with a shocker when, after prepping for months for her interview, she received a call the night before, cancelling her appointment.

The person was scheduled to appear for their USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) interview the next day, but got a vague call instead. The officer on the phone apologized for the inconvenience and said they “need more time.”

There was no specific reason, no next steps, or date; just leaving the applicant in panic and confusion.

Now there are doubts plaguing her mind. Was something wrong with their file? Did they do something wrong? Is this normal?

According to an immigration lawyer, it’s not always a bad sign.

In fact, he said it’s “better to have it postponed than rushed.” Because officers might need more time to review your documents — or maybe your assigned officer is suddenly unavailable.

He advised people to stay calm, gather updated evidence, and be fully prepared whenever the interview is rescheduled.




Yet, for someone waiting anxiously for months, a sudden delay with no explanation can feel like a punch to the gut.
