Expensive jewelry is something that Indian women love. It’s perfectly fine to own jewelry, but wearing them in public and the attention they are grabbing is turning out to be a safety issue. Indian women often like to flaunt their golden ornaments on various public occasions. Unfortunately, this has made them targets for thieves and burglars in the US.
According to a report, South Asian, especially Indian-American families, have become the primary targets of such crimes. Investigations reveal that these criminals monitor families through spying and social media. A recent incident occurred at the home of Sameer Desai in Lincoln when his family was on a 10-day tour. The culprits entered through a second-floor window and stole valuable items, including jewelry and watches.
In contrast to the West, it is inherent in our culture to wear expensive gold jewelry on special public occasions, inadvertently drawing attention to our wealth and making us susceptible to cunning thieves who start spying on our families and homes, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. There is also a large number of Telugu families who are very fond of wearing these expensive ornaments in public.
While the police are diligently working to apprehend the thieves, as responsible citizens, we must also remain vigilant about safeguarding our wealth and heritage.
