In a shocking event, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak sacked his home secretary Suella Braverman – who now has now been made to leave the same Cabinet role twice in just over a year, but this time for simply having an opinion.
The Indian origin minister was appointed to the post when Sunak became prime minister just over a year ago and has now been replaced by James Cleverly. Braverman had formerly been elected to the UK Parliament from Fairham in 2015 and served as attorney general for England and Wales from 2020 to 2022.
The reason for the minister’s disappointment was a mere display of opinion in which she criticized a pro-Palestinian demonstration, set to take place on November 11.
Braverman stated how those right wing and nationalist are rightly met with a stern response when they engage in aggression however the same doesn’t apply to pro-Palestinian mobs displaying identical behavior and even breaking the law.
Braverman, an outspoken right-winger also said that the organizers of these protests have links to terrorist organizations, including Hamas and called them “hate marchers”.
The government said Braverman has left her job as part of a Cabinet shuffle, however everyone can make out what the truth is.
In a country that advocates freedom of speech such a move is unacceptable on all levels and is a clear show of disrespect towards Article 10 of the 1998 Human Rights Act which protects the right to freedom of expression.
After being removed from the office Braverman said that it was the greatest privilege of her life to serve as Home Secretary and that she will have more to say in due course which is a clear warning signal to Sunak that life is going to get difficult for him and his cabinet which is already suffering from the 20-point lead that the Labour Party currently holds in the run-up to the polls next year.
