In a heartbreaking case, charges have been filed against the in-laws and husband of Rajdeep Kaur, an American woman who died suspiciously on January 19. Her parents accused her husband, Manjinder Singh, and his parents of causing her death.
The police charged them under sections 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (criminal act by several persons) of the Indian Penal Code. Kaur’s mother-in-law also faces charges, and a case is registered against Singh, who is currently abroad.
Originally from Jalandhar, Kaur had settled in the US with Singh after marrying him nine years ago. The family alleges that Singh and his mother pressured Kaur to transfer property for an illegal green card, leading to her tragic death by strangulation on January 19.
The mother accused the in-laws of tampering with the post-mortem report. Police initiated an official investigation, and both the mother-in-law and husband will face court proceedings.
In a similar incident, in Sultanpur Lodhi, Punjab, in-laws allegedly caused the death of a US Indian woman, strangling her. While the in-laws are arrested, the accused husband remains in the US
The victim’s mother filed the complaint, revealing the illegal green card pursuit and the orchestrated strangulation. The police actively investigate both cases, shedding light on a distressing trend of such incidents in India.
