With the massive success of DC, Lokesh Kanagaraj emerged as the second actor in Kollywood to achieve a 100 crore collection with a debut film, following Pradeep Ranganathan.

Following its blockbuster theatrical run, DC started streaming on the Sun NXT OTT platform yesterday (September 4th) with a 4-week OTT window in three languages such as Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. People who missed watching DC in theatres are now watching it on OTT and sharing their responses on social media.

While the majority of the OTT audience is also sharing positive responses for the film, claiming that DC is one of the best action entertainers in Kollywood in recent times and suggesting that Lokesh Kanagaraj has made a solid debut as an actor, a few people are sharing negative feedback.

They note that apart from Anirudh Ravichander’s background score and one or two interesting action sequences, DC is just an average film, suggesting that the drama didn’t work for them. They also feel that DC is an overrated film and that director Arun Matheswaran tricked the audience with unnecessary character elevations.

Meanwhile, responding to these negative comments, many people clarified that films like DC are meant to be celebrated in theatres for their visual aesthetics and action sequences. They feel that if these same viewers had watched DC in theatres, they would have rated it higher and they suggest that DC might feel like an average action film to some OTT viewers because the viewing experience is completely different.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen how DC will perform on OTT and whether it emerges as a successful venture also on the streaming platform in the following days.
