Survey Says This OTT Cancels Most Original Shows!

Survey OTT CancelsNow, let’s discuss the fact that, over time, streaming platforms have been canceling numerous shows, which can be disappointing for fans. Watching a show is like making a commitment, and platforms like Netflix and Disney+ seem to be playing with it.

Surprisingly, it’s not Netflix or Prime Video that cancel the most shows. HBO Max takes the lead, with a whopping 26.9% cancellation rate. Even this year, they’ve canceled shows like Gossip Girl, South Side, and Pennyworth, breaking the hearts of many fans.

Disney+ comes in second place, with a 21.1% cancellation rate. Recently, they canceled shows like Willow, Big Shot, Turner & Hooch, and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

Paramount+ surprisingly takes the bronze medal, followed by Hulu.

Then comes the notorious Netflix, which is known for canceling shows. Despite receiving very positive reviews from fans, shows like 1899, Uncoupled, and The Chair have been canceled. And as expected, they’ve maintained this trend for a long time.

Peacock, Prime Video, and Apple TV+ follow in the wake of Netflix, with cancellation rates of 10%, 9%, and 4.9%, which is relatively low compared to some other platforms.

Mostly, the economics of the situation play a significant role. However, many of these platforms have strong economic backing, and they can’t expect a show to become a hit in a single day or week—after all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Some of these platforms do have bad reputations and seem destined for cancellations. Yet, a canceled show can lead to significant layoffs, so studios should be more sensitive to this issue.
