Ajey Teaser Review

Religious and political films are some of the most difficult genres to pull off without hurting sentiments or sparking disputes, especially in today’s climate, where even the smallest hint of controversy can trigger massive reactions.

In such an environment, Samrat Cinematics has dropped the official teaser for AJEY – The Untold Story of a Yogi, inspired by Yogi Adityanath’s definitive biography written by Shantanu Gupta.

Directed by Ravindra Gautam and produced by Ritu Mengi, the film stars Anant Vijay Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Dinesh Lal Yadav, Ajay Mengi, Pawan Malhotra, Rajesh Khattar, Garima Vikrant Singh, and Sarwar Ahuja.

The story of how a yogi entered the world of politics aims to showcase Yogi Adityanath’s governance as one rooted in discipline, development, and decisive action. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on August 1st.

Those who admire Yogi Adityanath, viewing him as powerful, intense, and truly inspiring, are eagerly awaiting the film and already believe it will be the best they’ve seen this year without watching the film.

On the other hand, many remain skeptical, calling it yet another propaganda film. Yogi Adityanath is the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and a member of the BJP. Critics of the ruling party believe this is timed as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections.

They argue that the film might be endorsed by the ruling party, and like other politically backed films in the past, it may end up being a box office failure.

The conversations surrounding Ajey have less to do with the filmmaking or performances and more with what the film represents and what it’s trying to communicate to the audience.

In an unpredictable socio-political climate like the one today, a film that walks the tightrope between religion and politics is bound to receive a mixed, if not explosive, response. The makers, as well as the audience, should be prepared for whatever comes next.
