Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar recently spoke about a disturbing experience involving his daughter at a cybercrime awareness conference. He shared how online predators target children even in casual gaming platforms, stressing the urgent need for awareness.
His daughter was playing an online video game when a stranger asked her gender. After replying “female,” she was asked to share nude pictures. She quickly shut the game and informed her mother about the incident without delay.
Akshay highlighted this example to show how cybercrime often begins in small, unnoticed ways. He warned that such incidents, if ignored, can escalate into serious dangers. He reminded everyone that what looks minor can have damaging consequences.
During the event, Akshay requested the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to introduce a “cyber period” in schools. This weekly class for students of 7th to 10th standard would educate them on online threats and teach them how to stay safe.
He said cybercrime has already grown bigger than street crime and stopping it is a priority. His appeal underlined how fast the threat is spreading and why preventive action must be taken at both family and school levels.
Cases of online scams are increasing across India. A mother in Noida recently lost ₹32 lakh in a fraud, while others have faced losses through fake orders. Thousands of such cases get reported daily, making awareness the first step towards safety.
