Rapper and singer-songwriter Badshah is facing strong criticism on social media over his latest track Tateeree. The song was released earlier this week on March 1, 2026. Soon after its release, the music video began trending online and drew millions of views.
The controversy began after users pointed out certain visuals in the music video. According to posts circulating online, the video features women dancers dressed in Haryanvi school uniforms performing dance routines that many viewers described as provocative.
In the video, the dancers appear in blue kurtas and salwars that resemble school uniforms. They are seen dancing on buses and rooftops while Badshah performs the song. Some viewers say the visuals and lyrics together create an uncomfortable tone.
A particular lyric from the song has also attracted attention online. Critics claim that the words, along with the imagery used in the video, objectify women and present schoolgirls in a sexualised manner.
Following the viral discussions, several social media users criticised the rapper’s creative choices. Many questioned why such themes were included in the video. Some users even demanded action from the National Commission for Women and Haryana Police.
The debate has also reminded users of a previous decision by Haryana Police earlier this year. In January 2026, authorities reportedly banned 67 songs that promoted violence and gun culture.
Among those banned titles were 19 songs by singer Masoom Sharma. Commentators now claim that while such songs were removed from streaming platforms, the controversial visuals in Tateeree have not yet faced similar scrutiny.
Some users also compared the situation with earlier controversies in the music industry. Guru Randhawa’s song Azul, released in 2023, was also criticised by sections of the public for visuals that featured women dressed in school uniforms.
The discussion has gained further traction in the context of wider debates about representation in entertainment. Many people argue that popular culture influences social attitudes and therefore artists should be mindful of the themes they portray.
At present, Badshah has not issued any official statement regarding the controversy. Social media users continue to debate the issue while some are waiting to see whether authorities will respond to the demands for action.
