Big Theater Release for Sequel of OTT Blockbuster?

Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam in Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 ocean heist sequel

Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam are set to return for Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2, the sequel to the 2023 Netflix hit. The update was first reported by Himesh Mankad of Pinkvilla, and fans are buzzing about what the makers have planned this time.

According to insiders, the script is already locked and production is expected to begin by the end of this year. The sequel will take the heist out of airplanes and into the middle of the ocean. This time the action will unfold on a cruise ship, blending comedy with thrilling sequences to create a fresh cinematic experience.

Producer Dinesh Vijan is reportedly planning to rent a cruise for the entire shoot, which signals a bigger budget and more ambitious scale. Unlike the first part that premiered directly on Netflix, the sequel is likely to head to theatres first. Sources revealed that a theatrical release is the makers’ top preference at the moment.

The first film was a breakout OTT success, but fans are divided on whether the sequel can deliver at the box office. Some viewers are questioning Yami Gautam’s choice of scripts, especially after her critical and commercial success with Article 370. Others doubt whether Sunny Kaushal can attract large crowds to theatres, though trade experts suggest the film could perform well if made on a controlled budget and supported by strong word-of-mouth.

With the heist shifting to an ocean backdrop and more actors expected to join the cast, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated sequels in Bollywood.
