As De De Pyaar De 2 gears up for release on 14 November 2025, the buzz around the Ajay Devgn-starrer remains lukewarm. Trade experts expect the sequel to open to modest numbers despite its strong ensemble cast.
Starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, Meezaan Jafri, and R. Madhavan, the film follows the 2019 hit De De Pyaar De, which opened at around ₹9 crore and earned ₹104 crore net in India. The new chapter, however, faces tougher odds.
Industry trackers predict a shaky start, estimating ₹6-8 crore on Day 1 lower than the original. They say weak promotions from Luv Films and T-Series have failed to create enough excitement for the age-gap rom-com.
The film’s songs have also drawn a tepid response, adding to the concern. Many point to Ajay’s recent choices flops like Maidaan and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, and mixed reactions to Shaitaan as reasons for fan fatigue.
Advance bookings stand at ₹1.36 crore, which trade insiders call “decent but unspectacular.” The film now depends on strong walk-ins and positive word-of-mouth to keep its numbers steady through the weekend.
Analysts say De De Pyaar De 2 must match or beat its predecessor’s opening to stay in the race. Some expect better performance in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, but overall, the film’s success depends on how audiences respond after release.
Its first weekend will decide whether De De Pyaar De 2 continues Ajay’s sequel streak or adds one more flop to his recent record.
