Actor Siddharth Sharma has accused the makers of the Sunny Deol-starrer Soorya of non-payment and breach of contract. He revealed that he has now taken legal action against them.
Speaking about the issue, Siddharth said this was the first time in his seven–eight-year career that he had faced such a situation. He mentioned that he has worked with top production houses like T-Series and Balaji but never experienced such treatment before.
According to Siddharth, he was approached for Soorya in 2022 through references from directors Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao after the producers confirmed Sunny Deol for the lead role.
He claimed that the first schedule of the shoot was completed in Jaipur, but the next schedules faced long delays and unpaid dues. The agreement, he said, included a signing amount and another payment after half the shoot. However, the producers allegedly refused to pay citing financial problems.
Siddharth added that even after Gadar 2 and the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, the producers ignored his requests for payment. One of them reportedly told him, “Main toh pay nahin karunga. Tujhe jo karna hai, tu kar.”
He also alleged that an advertisement for Manyavar was shot without his consent under the pretext of a film scene. He discovered this only after the brand later contacted him directly. Siddharth has since refused to do dubbing or promotions for the movie until his dues are cleared.
While he admitted that the new version of Soorya looks promising, Siddharth said the makers have “ruined” Sunny Deol’s reputation by using his name unfairly.
Producer Kamal Mukut has not yet responded to these allegations.
