Harshvardhan Rane has delivered a surprise hit with his latest romantic drama, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (EDKD), which earned ₹10 crore on its opening day, October 21, 2025.
Directed by Milap Zaveri and co-starring Sonam Bajwa, the film tells an intense love story between a powerful politician and an aspiring actress.
Despite clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, which collected ₹24 crore, EDKD held strong. With limited screens and two non-star leads, it still achieved a solid 39.51% Hindi occupancy.
The film marks a major milestone for Harshvardhan, who last led a film in 2016’s Sanam Teri Kasam opposite Mawra Hocane a sleeper hit that later gained cult status. Over the years, he’s impressed audiences with roles in Paltan (2018), Haseen Dillruba (2021), and Savi (2024).
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has now become his biggest opener yet. Viewers credit its success to a strong soundtrack and Harshvardhan’s raw, passionate performance.
Fans on social media are celebrating his rise, though some point out how major production houses still overlook his talent in favour of repetitive star launches. His loyal fanbase, particularly in Tier-2 cities, continues to support him.
While critics gave the film mixed reviews Filmfare rated it 2.5/5 for its familiar tropes and emotional appeal audiences are calling it a heartfelt entertainer. With growing box office numbers, Harshvardhan Rane’s long-overdue success story finally seems to be unfolding.
