Making brain-rotting films with cringe humour is an art that has been forgotten, mainly because it’s no longer done the way it used to be. Housefull 5 tried to emulate that classic brain-rotting style of content but failed miserably.
Fans took to social media to express that this kind of humour is actually very tough to pull off, as it doesn’t appeal to everyone. It needs to be created thoughtfully for it to really work.
This was evident in Housefull 5, where its attempt at brain-rotting comedy ended up being more disgusting and offensive than funny.
Many social media users said that only one director could have done justice to such a film, and that is Farah Khan.
According to them, Farah knows exactly how to deliver silly comedy in a super entertaining way.
When we think of Tees Maar Khan, or even Happy New Year, to some extent, the gags were genuinely funny, and the jokes were written in a way that actually made people laugh out loud.
Farah’s films don’t take themselves too seriously and are very self-aware, even with all the brain-rotting humour.
Housefull 5 needed someone like her to turn it into a proper thriller-comedy with a strong, satisfying ending.
When we look at films like Om Shanti Om and their endings, they’re genuinely mind-blowing. Farah would have been able to do justice to Housefull 5 and its terrible humour, poor writing, and weak direction.
While we don’t know if her style and humour are still relevant to today’s audiences, many still believe she could have brought a clear vision to the film and pulled it off.
