Reports about Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s film Aabeer Gulaal releasing in India have been making headlines. The film released in some places on September 12, 2025, but the Press Information Bureau has now confirmed that the India release news is fake.
PIB clarified that Aabeer Gulaal has not received any clearance for an Indian release. The rumours began after an insider claimed that production house Indian Stories Limited was planning to release the film in India on September 26 as a solo release.
The film drew controversy after the Pahalgam attack when Fawad Khan posted on social media, criticising India’s Operation Sindoor. His remarks upset audiences, and many Indians have expressed that they cannot forgive the actor for his comments.
India’s film industry is known for its inclusivity, giving opportunities beyond nationality or religion. But in such cases, respect for the country becomes most important. With multiple films arriving quietly, it remains to be seen if similar issues arise in the future.
