The film Sarabjit based on the true story of an Indian farmer who accidentally entered Pakistani territory and was accused of being a spy hit the screens yesterday with high hope. But despite the presence of popular actress Aishwarya Rai’s playing the role of Sarabjit’s sister who knocked on innumerable doors of every possible government institutions in a bid to release her brother, the film left the audiences somewhat disappointed according to the reviews.

Although Sarabjit did an excellent task to bring the tale of the ill-fated farmer to every Indian, the story telling is full of flaws. Some scenes are too dramatic with Aishwarya’s trademark screaming being too overdone, although the performances of both her and Ranbir are powerful and mostly credible.
Going by the early talk the story-telling could have been more polished in order to more effective bring forward the issue. The overuse of melodrama and staged dialogues add nothing to the story and makes the film appear contrived. Even the editing does nothing to enhance the narrative with scenes dragging at many points. Looks like another disappointing result for Ash!
