Hera Pheri 3 has remained one of Bollywood’s most talked-about projects, but the film has struggled to move into production for several reasons. The reported exit of Priyadarshan has disappointed many fans who were hoping to see him return to direct the sequel.
In a recent interview, Priyadarshan shared how he had planned to approach Hera Pheri 3. He said he believed the film had the potential to become even bigger than Dhurandhar. The veteran filmmaker also expressed confidence that it could have grown into one of India’s biggest film franchises.
Priyadarshan revealed that Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal had requested him to direct the sequel. According to him, the three actors were excited after listening to the story he had prepared for the film.
The interview also drew attention because Priyadarshan spoke about his differences with Firoz A. Nadiadwala. He alleged that Firoz had told Akshay Kumar that, despite holding the rights to the sequel, he should not make the film with Priyadarshan.
The filmmaker further claimed that Firoz had insulted him on multiple occasions. He also recalled an incident during the making of Hera Pheri, alleging that Firoz criticised his initial cut and asked him to rework a version that reportedly ran for nearly five hours.
Following the interview, many social media users criticised Firoz A. Nadiadwala for allegedly interfering in a director’s creative work. Some also highlighted Priyadarshan’s filmmaking record, saying his work after Hera Pheri reflects his experience and storytelling ability.
A section of fans continues to demand Priyadarshan’s return to Hera Pheri 3. Some believe the sequel will be difficult to recreate without his direction, while others have urged Priyadarshan, Firoz A. Nadiadwala and Akshay Kumar to resolve their differences and move the project forward.
Priyadarshan’s remarks have once again brought Hera Pheri 3 into the spotlight. The latest developments have raised fresh questions about the film’s future. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
