Ranbir Kapoor Ramayana

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has showered accolades on the highly anticipated movie version of Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi at WAVES 2025 summit in Mumbai.

Fadnavis, who had a sneak peek at the movie along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said, “I was surprised to find the standard of Ramayana which you are making.”. Our drama, music, and art are extremely old, and we just wished to match it with the most recent technology, and that’s what I feel you’re doing”.

The movie, which is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is releasing in a two-part format in Diwali 2026 and 2027, and has already created a massive buzz for its starry cast and Rs. 835 crores budget.

But social media is abuzz with criticism, with many questioning the timing of such entertainment events during a period of national mourning. Those who were killed in Pahalgam are still awaiting justice they are awaiting the government to act against Pakistan, and Modi ji is watching Bollywood films.

There is no need for an event based on entertainment like WAVES when the nation is mourning the death of the victims of the Kashmir terror attack, some of the social media users are contending.

This is an increasing divide between celebrating film success and being tactful towards public sentiment at times of mourning.
