After multiple delays and heavy speculations, it’s now official that Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated Don 3 is finally set to go on floors in January 2026.
The film marks a new era for the iconic franchise, with Ranveer Singh stepping into the legendary role of Don.
The project faced several setbacks, along with Ranveer being heavily trolled online for daring to take on a character previously immortalized by Shah Rukh Khan.
This led both Ranveer and Farhan to step back from the spotlight until the initial backlash settled. According to an industry insider, Ranveer utilized this time to undergo rigorous martial arts training in preparation for such a demanding role.
Settling on a female lead had its separate share of drama. Kiara Advani was initially set to replace Priyanka Chopra, but her pregnancy forced the makers to halt production plans.
Currently, industry insiders speculate that Kriti Sanon will join the cast, but the makers have not officially confirmed it yet.
Even Farhan was reportedly busy with acting commitments, most notably for his lead role in the war film 120 Bahadur, set for a November 2025 release.
All these setbacks further delayed the shoot. But with all the hurdles now cleared, the team is ready to begin filming in January 2026, aiming for a December 2026 theatrical release.
As the film gears up for production, one question has dominated all discussions: Can Ranveer fill SRK’s shoes and bring a fresh yet convincing take to the iconic Don?
Many fans feel that similar doubts must’ve been raised when SRK was about to take over Don after Amitabh Bachchan, but despite the stakes, he managed to make the character his own.
With Farhan’s direction and Ranveer’s energy, there is still hope that this new interpretation of Don may pleasantly surprise everyone.
