After ₹1000 Cr Glory, Ranveer Chooses Zombies & Alia?

Ranveer Singh Pralay zombie film

With Don 3 no longer on his immediate slate, Ranveer Singh is preparing for a genre shift. He is set to star in Pralay, a zombie survival drama directed by Jai Mehta. The project signals a move away from mainstream action into darker territory.

Reports suggest the makers are keen to approach Alia Bhatt for the female lead. This would mark her third collaboration with Ranveer Singh after Gully Boy and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Formal discussions are yet to begin and talks are expected after pre-production starts in January.

What makes Pralay stand out is the way the female character is written. She is not positioned as a conventional love interest. Instead, she challenges the hero’s worldview amid a collapsing, near-apocalyptic Mumbai.

The story focuses on survival, moral dilemmas, and scarcity. It avoids the glossy presentation often seen in zombie films. This grounded narrative approach is one reason Alia Bhatt is being considered for the role.

For Ranveer Singh, Pralay arrives at a crucial phase in his career. After the global success of Dhurandhar, which placed him in the Rs. 1000 crore worldwide club, expectations around his choices are high.

Unlike big spectacle-driven films, Pralay leans towards experimentation. Jai Mehta, known for his work on Scam 1992 and Lootere, makes his feature film debut with this project.

Whether Alia Bhatt joins the film remains uncertain. Still, Pralay appears to be driven more by storytelling than hype. On paper, it promises a collaboration focused on content and performance.
