The film, which was directed by Puri Jagannadh and starred Vijay Deverakonda along with Panday, was a big-ticket production under the banner of producer Karan Johar. Despite the huge expectations, “Liger” failed to appeal to the audience and instead became a target for intense trolling.
In a candid interview with Filmfare, Ananya Panday revealed the psychological impact that the film’s failure had on her. She confessed that the negative reactions and harsh criticism online significantly affected her mental health, leading to heightened anxiety.

Two days after “Liger’s” lackluster release, Panday found herself on the sets of “Dream Girl 2” alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.

Panday’s battle to keep calm epitomizes the mental health challenges that public personalities often forget to deal with. The incessant trolling dented her confidence so much that she started doubting her acting abilities.
She pointed out that though many retakes are considered a norm in filmmaking, her insecurities, filled with low self-esteem, just encouraged her to believe the criticism.
Although she has continued to succeed in films and series such as “Call Me Bae 2” and “CTRL,” the candid confession by the actress reminds every one of the extent to which cyberbullying can affect an individual’s mental health.
