Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai has once again landed in controversy after actress Nehal Vadoliya accused him of sexual harassment. In a video statement, Nehal alleged that Ghai tried to forcibly kiss her during a visit to his home, where she had gone with her boyfriend, who worked as his manager.
She recounted that when Ghai entered the room, he came straight toward her and leaned in for a kiss. Nehal quickly turned her face, and his lips landed on her cheek instead. She said the incident left her shocked and uncomfortable, but she chose to speak out to highlight the reality of power dynamics in the industry.
This is not the first time Subhash Ghai has faced such allegations. During Bollywood’s #MeToo movement in 2018, multiple women accused him of misconduct, which he denied at the time. In the latest case, while Ghai has not issued a direct response, he shared a cryptic social media post implying that some people make false claims for publicity.
His statement triggered further backlash, with many pointing out that dismissing allegations in this manner only highlights how newcomers often face exploitation from powerful industry figures. Critics argue that the lack of accountability in such cases continues to make the film industry unsafe for women.
