Rs. 30,000 Cr Estate War: Actress Ex-wife vs Widow

Sunjay Kapur estate legal battle in Delhi

The inheritance battle over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s massive estate has intensified in the Delhi High Court. Karisma Kapoor’s children have alleged that they have been denied fair access to their rightful share of the Rs 30,000 crore fortune.

Samaira, 20, and Kiaan, 15, represented by their mother Karisma, have challenged the control of Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, over the assets. Reports say the children were allotted Rs 1,900 crore through the RK family trust.

Priya’s side maintains that the distribution has already taken place. However, Financial Express reported that the amount is tied to shares of Sona Comstar, which the children have not yet received directly.

Instead, the assets remain locked inside the trust, with Priya retaining access. Sources have stated that the children currently have no way to use these assets despite the allocation.

The petition also raises concerns over possible suppression or forgery of Sunjay’s will, which reportedly surfaced seven weeks after his death. The children’s lawyer, senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, stressed that the issue is about equitable division, not just the trust.

He argued that even if Rs 1,900 crore was given, over Rs 28,000 crore remains under Priya’s control. The court has ordered Priya to disclose all movable and immovable assets as of June 12, 2025, and hinted at sharing Sunjay’s will with the children under strict confidentiality.
