Released on the Dusshera and Gandhi Jayanti holiday, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor earned nearly Rs 10 crore on Day 1. The film was seen as a comeback moment for Varun at the box office.
Day 2, however, saw a sharp 45 percent drop. The film collected around Rs 5.5 crore net despite the strong holiday opening. Its total now stands at roughly Rs 15.5 crore in India, with weekend expectations near Rs 30 crore.
Though it’s common for collections to dip after a national holiday, the 45 percent drop is concerning. Trade experts believe the film should have managed at least Rs 7–8 crore on the second day to maintain steady momentum.
Today’s numbers will decide the film’s short-term fate. Analysts predict it needs to match the first-day figure of Rs 9–10 crore to stay relevant. The weekend will be critical in determining whether SSKTK can find any long-term audience pull.
Reports suggest Sunday collections must touch Rs 12 crore net for the film to hold some ground in theatres. Current estimates for the four-day weekend stand at about Rs 35 crore, a modest figure for a multi-starrer comedy.
Trade watchers say if Monday’s numbers fall below Rs 5 crore, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari may join the list of recent flops for both Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Still, the film’s 30 percent jump from yesterday offers a faint sign of hope.
