Aamir’s Biggest Disaster: Not Ready to Take Blame?

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan has recently opened up on the failure of Thugs of Hindostan as he appeared in an interview. The superstar claimed during the conversation that things did not happen as planned, due to which the film flopped at the end of its theatrical run.

Aamir said that he initially agreed to a script that was eventually not made and went through changes. He said that he usually avoids accepting such things.

Aamir, who also described TOH a disaster, added that he is taking full responsibility for the film’s failure with director Vijay Krishna Acharya and Aditya Chopra. Aamir recalled that he and the makers were in different boats when they watched the film.

Released in Diwali 2018, Thugs of Hindostan had a record-breaking opening day, with collections of Rs. 50 crores at the box office. However, it witnessed a downfall from the second day due to negative word-of-mouth.

While the film managed to touch the mark of Rs. 100 crores in three days, it failed to survive in theatres longer than the expected time. The theatres reportedly suffered losses due to the film’s failure, and it collected only Rs. 145 crores in 11 days in India.

Thugs of Hindostan marked Aamir and Vijay’s second collaboration after Dhoom 3, which was a big blockbuster.

Moreover, Vijay took a long break after the failure and joined hands with Yash Raj Films for The Great Indian Family, featuring Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar, which also flopped in the end.

Thugs of Hindostan was undoubtedly a big lesson for Aamir as he has seemingly avoided signing any big-budget films being made on a large scale. Moreover, Aamir is also maintaining secrecy in terms of his future plans right now.

Aamir’s film Sitaare Zameen Par is currently running in theatres and fans might have to wait until the end of SZP’s theatrical run to know more about Aamir’s next project.
