Despite recent rumors, Tiger vs Pathaan is still in development. The much-awaited crossover featuring Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Salman Khan’s Tiger has not been shelved. Yash Raj Films (YRF), led by Aditya Chopra, is planning a creative revamp of the entire Spy Universe.
Chopra is bringing in new directors. He is also experimenting with different storytelling formats. This move comes after concerns that the franchise was becoming repetitive.
A source quoted by PeepingMoon.com said that Aditya Chopra wants to give the Spy Universe a new direction. He is trying to avoid formula fatigue by breaking away from the usual patterns. The goal is to make the films more exciting and fresher.
YRF is not shelving projects. Instead, they are updating them creatively. Tiger vs Pathaan will follow a new path with a stronger narrative and more innovative approach.
War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, will be released on August 14. Alpha, the first female-led spy film starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, is scheduled for December 25. Pathaan 2, with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, is also in the works. However, the timeline might shift as YRF finalizes its plans.
The studio is also planning to introduce new spies. Vicky Kaushal is in early talks for a standalone spy film. This shows YRF’s intention to expand the universe with fresh talent.
After Tiger 3 underperformed in 2023, Tiger 4 has been paused. But the character will return. Aditya Chopra plans to bring him back with a better story after a break.
YRF is also working on other big projects. A Dhoom reboot is in development. Dhoom 4, starring Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Ayan Mukerji, will begin filming in April 2026.
The studio is also teaming up with Ali Abbas Zafar for a new action film. Several mid-budget films are set to go on floors in 2025.
YRF’s Spy Universe is far from over. With fresh talent, new ideas, and bold direction, the next phase promises to be more exciting and diverse.
