A source claims that Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global are not merging. This is because the shares that were part of this transaction had a prolonged period of low price. After months of tie-up preparation, the possible purchase of Paramount Global has been shelved.
It is reported that the two sides had confidential discussions about the transactions. A committee has been established by Paramount Global to search for and investigate specific possibilities. Comcast was among the entities who were considering a partnership with Paramount Plus. Their request to the lenders is to assist them in forming a partnership with Paramount Plus.
Peacock and Paramount’s streaming platforms may combine as part of this agreement. It was unclear if Paramount Global was interested in investigating the purchase. Comcast, Paramount Global, and Warner Bros. representatives have all declined to provide further details on this.
In December, CEO David Zaslav of Warner Bros. Discovery and CEO Bob Bakish of Paramount Globals held their first meeting. The two had been having serious conversations since January, but they have now cooled off. The failure of Warner Bros. Discovery to fulfill its profit objectives resulted in a 10% decline in shares on Friday. Over the last 12 months, the stock has dropped to 47%.
