Indian cinema produced one of its biggest blockbusters in history in the form of Dhurandhar (1&2). This franchise is directed by Aditya Dhar and it has Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
While Bollywood industry has been mostly silent about the success of this film, and also the technical brilliant of the same, something significant happened yesterday.
India’s legendary cricketer, Virat Kohli spoke highly of Dhurandhar 2 and implied it to be one of the greatest films in the history. He was absolutely in love with the kind of craft that was on display, and also the overall presentation of this film.
Virat took to social media to share his reaction on the film, and it is safe to say that he was super pleased with the same. He specially mentioned Director Aditya, and credited him for the exceptional efforts.
After witnessing the kind of respect that Virat has found for Aditya people are commenting that it is perhaps the right opportunity for the talented filmmaker to potentially materialise Kohli biopic.
The point to be noted here is that there has been a long discussion about the possibility of the Virat Kohli biopic in Indian cinema. Nothing of a big scale has materialised in this connection till now and disc creates the vacuum for Aditya.
If an extremely original and dynamic film maker like Aditya conceptualise a biopic on one of the greatest athletes in the history of the sport and also a mass cricketer who owns the streets of India, sky is the lining here.
But the problem lies with the sensibilities of Aditya, as he had been almost entirely working on nationalistic films till now. Will he take the time and effort to potentially materialise a Kohli biopic?
The fundamental point that must be noted, here is that Kohli has the career trajectory that can easily make for a brilliant biopic. He fought hard at the Delhi team after the passing of his father at a young age and eventually made it to Indian team and later on, became one of the all time greatest batsmen, if not the greatest.
So it is perhaps optimal if Aditya see the potential here and eventually materialises a film on this legendary cricketer. But there is far too little leading into the same and we have to see if this wishful thinking would materialize into an actual project sooner than later.
