NTR aimed to strengthen his presence in the Hindi belt with his latest film War 2. This was the reason he collaborated with Hrithik Roshan and director Ayan Mukerjee for this high-profile project.
However, weak storytelling led to mixed reviews, and the box office response was far from impressive. The film opened to a moderate ₹50 crore nett, failing to create the expected buzz among audiences.
The combination of NTR and Hrithik Roshan was expected to be a major attraction. Yet, poor marketing and lack of audience interest made the collaboration fall flat, leaving the film struggling to gain momentum.
A key point to note is that NTR risked losing either way. If the film had become a hit, many Telugu social media circles, except Tarak’s fans, would have credited Hrithik Roshan for the success, sidelining NTR’s efforts.
On the flip side, with the film turning out to be a flop, the blame is now squarely placed on NTR. He has been made the scapegoat for its failure, as is evident from the current reactions.
The only possible gain for NTR would have been a stronger identity in the Hindi market if the film had performed well. Unfortunately, the audience rejected it outright, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact was lost.
It has been a while since NTR faced such an all-round setback. Sadly, War 2 has delivered one of the most disappointing results of his career.
