Pawan Kalyan is set to return to theaters with OG, creating buzz not just for its story but also for its ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC. This is Pawan Kalyan’s first adult-rated film in 14 years, after Panjaa in 2011. Fans are curious if the film is truly intense.
The CBFC report shows that They Call Him OG underwent several cuts before approval. Close-up visuals of hand amputations, beheadings, and other violent sequences were trimmed, totaling 1 minute and 55 seconds. Scenes with children in distress and suggestive police content were also censored.
Even after cuts, the film runs for 2 hours 34 minutes and carries a strict adults-only rating. Recent ‘A’ certificates have sometimes sparked controversy, with films like Coolie receiving adult ratings but delivering minimal violence.
Some filmmakers have used the rating to generate hype for extreme action or gore, even if the content falls short. This has made audiences cautious, as the certificate may not always reflect the true intensity of the film.
Fans remain hopeful that Pawan Kalyan will deliver a gritty performance in OG. However, only the film’s release will confirm if it lives up to the rare adult rating in his career.
