The much-awaited Prabhas’ period war drama Fauzi, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is nearing completion. According to industry updates, only three major action episodes remain to be shot, while the rest of the film has already been wrapped. Prabhas has finished his talkie part, but some action scenes remain to be shot. The team is now aiming for a clear October release target.
Initially, the makers considered a Diwali release. However, with Ramayana Part 1 expected to arrive around the same time, they chose to avoid a clash, particularly keeping overseas market dynamics in mind. A solo release window is very important for maximizing reach and collections.
Strategically, the release timing also connects to Prabhas’s upcoming projects. Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is expected to release in March 2027. Maintaining at least a five-to-six-month gap between major releases is essential, especially to align with OTT deal cycles and promotional planning.
The stakes for Fauzi are particularly high. Prabhas’ last film Raja Saab flopped miserably and faced heavy trolling, even worse than Adipurush. Fans now expect Fauzi to restore his momentum and deliver a strong comeback.
Set in the 1940s, before India’s independence, the film presents Prabhas as a soldier. Alongside intense war sequences, the film is said to feature a signature emotional love story in typical Hanu Raghavapudi’s style. Industry talk suggests that the climax will be one of the film’s biggest highlights. It is expected to leave a lasting impact and spark widespread discussion.
Meanwhile, Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 has already begun production, though it is targeting a 2028 release and does not face immediate scheduling pressure. On the other hand, Salaar 2 remains uncertain, as Prashanth Neel is currently occupied with other commitments, including a project with Jr. NTR.
For Fauzi, the next phase will be crucial. If the team sticks to its October target, promotions are expected to begin well in advance, likely from the summer. Reportedly, music composed by Vishal Chandrasekhar has come out well. Whether it will turn out to be a classic or not, we will have to wait.
If Fauzi gets postponed, then Spirit will also be postponed, and it will cause a cycle of postponements. So Fauzi arriving on time is crucial. For now, Fauzi is clearly the priority.
Prabhas, who is currently on a short break, is expected to resume shooting soon and prioritize completing Fauzi. At the same time, work on Spirit may proceed in parallel depending on scheduling.
