M9 News journalist Nishant sat down with actor Roshan Kanakala ahead of the release of his next film, Mowgli. The release date is yet to be fixed since Akhanda 2 occupied the date earlier planned for Mowgli.
When asked whether Mowgli feels like old wine in a new bottle, Roshan agreed that the story moves on familiar ground. But he added that Sandeep Raaj ensured the film offers more than expected. He said the treatment adds freshness and makes it a proper theatrical experience.
Growing up, Roshan says he admired NTR a lot. He shared that he often accompanied his parents to their work locations but remained shy and reserved. His mother made him practise monologues from NTR’s Yamadonga. After being exposed to world cinema, he began noticing merits in every actor and now appreciates everyone.
Roshan revealed that nearly 70 percent of Mowgli was shot in live locations, including forests in Rampachodavaram, Vikarabad and Gudisa. He also spoke about his mother’s influence and said he never wanted to achieve the same things she did.
He opened up about the difficult phase after the failure of his first film, Bubblegum. He also discussed the colour bias he faced and the trolling that followed his speech at the Bubblegum pre release event.
He said people judge colour casually when actors are still trying to prove themselves. He shared that he heard negative comments behind his back. Many develop a complex because of such bias, and he spoke up for them. Though he was trolled for his speech, he said he does not regret it because he knows how deeply it hurts people.
