Sony Picture India’s latest release, “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely,” hit theaters this Friday. Starring Ileana D’Cruz, the film sheds light on society’s fixation on certain skin tones.
Ileana, who has been vocal about this issue, portrays the central character in the movie, set in Punjab. Alongside her are Randeep Hooda and Karan Kundrra in important roles.
The film, co-produced by Sony Pictures, addresses prejudices against darker skin tones and the persisting dowry system in India.
However, despite its meaningful message, the movie struggled at the box office. With a lack of positive reviews and low audience awareness, it only earned around 20 lacs net on its opening day as expected. Such low collections are embarrassing and many websites didn’t even report the collections.
In contrast, Ajay Devgn’s “Shaitaan” is enjoying success, overshadowing “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely.”
It’s predicted that Ileana’s film’s lifetime earnings will be less than 1 crore net, marking the third consecutive disaster for Sony Pictures India after “Operation Valentine” and “Aankh Micholi.”
Directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua and produced by Sony Pictures in collaboration with Zee Music, “Tera Kya Hoga Lovely” marks Ileana D’Cruz’s comeback to the silver screen post-motherhood. This might also be one of her last few films before she bids goodbye to the film industry.
