Nithiin is at an extremely crucial point in his career. After a string of flops, he urgently needs a strong comeback. All eyes are now on his upcoming release, Thammudu, which hits theatres on July 4.
Fortunately, the film faces minimal competition at the box office, as no major releases are scheduled around the same time. If Thammudu generates positive word of mouth, it stands a real chance of turning into a box office success.

The project is backed by seasoned producer Dil Raju, known for combining commercial appeal with meaningful storytelling. Industry reports suggest that the film’s budget is around Rs. 75 crores.
Nearly half of that has already been recovered through non-theatrical revenues such as satellite, digital, and audio rights. The film needs to collect a theatrical share of Rs. 40 crores to be considered a hit. It’s not an impossible target, but given Nithiin’s current form, it won’t be easy either.

Interestingly, Dil Raju’s confidence seems to be rooted more in the strength of the script than in the hero or director. Dil Raju reportedly greenlit the film based on the story’s emotional depth and cinematic scope.
He emphasized the need for a fresh visual approach, which explains the scale of the production. The trailer reflects this ambition, with slick visuals and a stylized presentation.

The response to the trailer and songs has been decent—nothing extraordinary but not bad either.
Thammudu tells the story of a younger brother who takes it upon himself to protect his sister from a powerful adversary.
Set in a rural backdrop, the film explores village dynamics, familial bonds, and a formidable villain. What sets Thammudu apart is its narrative focus—it avoids typical romantic and comedic distractions, opting instead for a grounded, emotional, and action-driven arc.
Director Venu Sriram, known for safe films like MCA and Vakeel Saab, appears to be stepping outside his comfort zone.
If the emotional moments in the movie connect with the audience, this could finally be the hit that Nithiin badly needs.
