All the four Sankranthi releases are in the theatres and the verdict is quite clear at the US box-office. Let’s talk about the good things first. ‘F2: Fun & Frustration‘ has collected $251 K from the premiere shows (total gross crossed 500 K already) and there seems to be a huge demand for the move for extra shows. The entertainment factor is working big time for this Anil Ravipudi’s directorial. Needless to say that his next will be in demand in the US.
Besides F2, Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ is rocking in the US (the Tamil version) right from the advance bookings. It has already crossed $1.5 million and it isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. It’s a welcome movie from the superstar after the sci-fi thriller ‘2.0’. The pull is really great and one must wait and see where will it stop. Now, to the most disappointing movie of this Sankranthi ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’.
The US audiences have outrightly rejected Ram Charan’s movie with Boyapati Srinu. It’s not the kind of movie the US audiences would embrace and henceforth, the movie was rejected even before the disaster talk was out. The advance bookings were poor and the premier’ collections were quite humiliating. After a blockbuster like ‘Rangasthalam’, it’s disheartening to see ‘Vinaya Vidheya Rama’ collecting just $210 K, so far.
Talking about ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’, though it opened to positive talk, the movie is dragging. The collections on Friday and Saturday will make its fate clear. The movie is having a decent run at the US box-office collecting $706 K. But, it needs more to call it a hit movie in the US. Things will be clear by the first weekend. Overall, two movies are clearly in, one is totally out and the last one is still trying to hold on. Let’s wait for the weekend figures.
