Elections in Andhra Pradesh are drawing closer. There is a change in the mood in Andhra Pradesh after the Telangana elections. Suddenly, Jagan Mohan Reddy looks vulnerable.
Also, he is making several experiments regarding the candidates list, which seems to be backfiring. And there is Sharmila to compound his problems. But then, is this perception true? We would not know until the elections but signs are definitely bad.
Let us take the example of two seats – Kurnool and Tirupati Parliament seats.
Both these seats are the weak seats of the Telugu Desam Party. The Cycle party won here twenty-five years ago. Both the seats were Congress strongholds previously and the YSR Congress strongholds recently.
In 2019, YSRCP won Kurnool Parliament with a majority of 1.5 Lakh votes. The party won Tirupati in 2019 and the by-poll in 2021 with 2.28 Lakh and 2.71 Lakh votes majority respectively.
Gummanur Jayaram and Koneti Adimulam were announced as the candidates for the Kurnool and Tirupati Parliament segments respectively.
In normal conditions, anyone would take it happily. But then, Jayaram went completely missing and Adimulam met Nara Lokesh the other day.
Even if a party is losing, anyone would happily take such strong seats because they feel at least their victory is guaranteed.
If that is not the case, it would be dangerbells to the YSR Congress.
Is this an indication that the YSR Congress is also losing its strongholds? Is the anti-incumbency so strong?
