G.V. Reddy vs. TDP – Who’s to Blame?

GV Reddy Controversy TDP Resignation Analayis

G.V. Reddy’s resignation from the chairman role of AP State FiberNet has created a mini storm and triggered significant debate on social media.

At a time when political leaders are often seen as opportunistic and lacking public sympathy, G.V. Reddy’s voluntary resignation has sparked an unusual reaction, especially among TDP supporters. Many have requested him to reconsider his decision, which speaks volumes about the respect he has earned within the party.

Though he is now officially out, his past work has left a lasting impact. However, the real question remains -was G.V. Reddy overreacting to an incident, or is the TDP at fault for losing a valuable leader?

From a neutral perspective, G.V. Reddy has certainly delivered what TDP needed, which explains the positive response from party followers. At the same time, some have criticized the leadership, demanding that the party should not have let him go.

Ever since TDP returned to power, there has been fierce competition for nominated posts. The party leadership recognized G.V. Reddy’s contributions and honored him with the chairman role of the prestigious AP State FiberNet, a project initiated by Chandrababu Naidu himself. Therefore, it cannot be said that the party neglected his efforts.

G.V. Reddy may have had valid concerns regarding the irregularities in FiberNet under the past YCP government. But as an experienced politician, he could have handled the issue differently instead of making it public.

There are issues that should be addressed internally; he is not a newbie to not know this. The way he addressed the issue in the media, of course will irritate the high command. For reference, when Pawan Kalyan spoke against Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi, the same supporters did not feel comfortable. The same logic applies here too.

This entire episode is totally unnecessary from the party’s point of view. There will be numerous issues like this in governments, and they don’t wash their dirty linen in public. If they do, there is no need for the opposition to hit them.

In the end, neither G.V. Reddy nor the party benefited from this controversy. His decision to resign not only weakens his standing but also results in an unnecessary loss for TDP.

Given his established reputation in the party, stepping away from both the chairman role and the party itself does not serve him any purpose. If this decision was made in the heat of the moment, he may eventually regret it, as the issue did not warrant such an extreme step.

This situation could have been handled better. When things settle, G.V. Reddy’s resignation might be seen as a hasty move, and TDP’s loss of a dedicated leader will seem unnecessary. A more politically mature approach could have easily prevented this entire episode.
