Since yesterday, there has been a lot of confusion regarding the implementation of the rule mandating the closure of all commercial establishments in Hyderabad between 10:30 and 11 PM.
According to the reports, after reviewing the city’s law and order situation, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed the police department to enforce this rule to control late-night crime rates.

This decision was heavily criticised by people from different sectors. Many people expressed that several areas in Hyderabad depend on late-night business, and early closures would affect their livelihoods.
They stated that reducing crime is essential but it shouldn’t come at the expense of thousands of people’s livelihoods.

“The recent social media news making rounds that city police are closing shops by 10.30 or 11 PM are totally misleading. The shops and establishments will open/close as per the already existing rules only,” read the official post.
However, this morning, a post from Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reignited the debate. His social media account shared a post stating that the police department had ordered the closure of commercial establishments by 10:30 or 11 PM.
On the other side, an advertisement from Langar Houz Police Station also conveyed the same message.
These contradictory statements from the government and the police department have left people confused and frustrated, criticizing the authorities for the lack of clear information.
