Indira Gandhi Atal Bihari Vajpayee Narendra Modi

India and Pakistan announced the ceasefire the other day. US President Donald Trump had announced that he mediated between the two countries and congratulated them on the common sense and greater intelligence.

People across the country are shocked by the sudden announcement. They are unhappy about agreeing to the ceasefire when there is a good chance that India can bring Pakistan to its knees.

Moreover, unconditional agreement to the ceasefire also annoyed the people.

All of a sudden, the entire country is against the Modi Government.

To make things worse, there were violations by Pakistan last night, and the Indian Army had to deal with them.

The Traditional Media initially reacted harshly to the ceasefire but became silent all of a sudden as if there were some orders from Delhi.

Social Media, however, is completely unforgiving.

People are remembering how Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not yield to the pressure of the U.S but Modi gave up completely.

In 1971, when the then-Indira Gandhi government went to war against Pakistan to liberate East Pakistan, the then-US President Nixon threatened Military Action and Sanctions.

But Indira Gandhi did not relent.

Interestingly, this scene is in Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency movie. It is known to all that Kangana is a BJP Supporter and the clip from the movie has gone viral on social media, calling Indira as Iron Lady.

AB Vajpayee was also threatened the same way during the Kargil War.

“I am ready to sacrifice half of India, but Pakistan will not see tomorrow’s sun,” Vajpayee gave a strong retort to Clinton.

Later in 1998, Vajpayee conducted the Nuclear Tests in Pokhran, defying America.

But then, Modi gave up so easily. The entire ecosystem projected Modi as stronger than Indira Gandhi and Vajpayee. So, it was disappointing to see Modi give up so easily.

The Government of India did not even reveal what prompted it to agree to the ceasefire.

There is no assurance from the US or Pakistan that there will be no Terrorist attacks going forward or about handing over the perpetrators of the Pahalgam Attack.

Also, before India announced it, President Trump announced it unilaterally, indicating the Government has agreed on a third-party interference in this issue.

Historically, India has always maintained that Kashmir is its internal issue and would not allow any others to intervene.

Also, the language used by President Trump has hurt many. “Congratulations to both countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence,” Trump wrote while making the announcement.

It has to be seen if Modi will approach the issue differently from here.
