
It is being reported that hundreds of trainees who were laid off by Infosys have approached the Prime Minister’s office.
Infosys made news for laying off 400 trainees from its Mysore campus. The matter continues to be highly debatable and the employee unions have also expressed their anguish in the matter.

Now, the matter has reached PMO. It is said the laid off trainees wrote to the Prime Minister’s office. The news is being reported by national media after getting information from reliable sources.
According to the national media, the PMO received at least 100 letters from trainees. The trainees had requested that PMO intervene in the matter and make sure that such incidents don’t happen in future.

Following this, the union labour & employment ministry got into the act and sent notices to Karnataka labour ministry on February 25. They directed the state labour department to send a report to the union government.
In the beginning of February, Infosys laid off 400 trainees from its Mysore campus and asked them to leave immediately. Responding on the issue, Infosys maintained that those who failed in three consecutive evaluation tests were sent home. It was essential for the growth of the company, it said.

In 2022-23, Infosys hired 2000 trainees as part of their recruitment drive. They gave them offer letters the same year. However, they did not onboard them, which led to widespread criticism. The labour ministry had to get involved and Infosys took them in in 2024.
It has to be noted that more than half the recruits were laid off by Infosys.
