Telangana Chief Minister K chandrasekhar Rao had made a proud announcement that he will not ask for votes in the next election if he could not provide drinking water to every household in the state by the next election. If he is any serious about the claim, he should first focus on the whopping 60% households in his own constituency that are deprived of drinking water accessibility.

As per the 2011 census, as many as 1,93,278 people of the total population of 3,22,130 in Gajwel assembly constituency in Medak district do not have access to drinking water. Out of the six mandals in the constituency, Wargal mandal have only 11,990 people of the total 44,525 (26.93%) having access to drinking water.
The situation is not any different in terms of sanitation too. Only 46.73% households in Gajwel (1.48 lakh out of 3.2 lakh people) have toilets in their homes and the rest – 1.73 lakh people – are forced to opt for open defecation. So KCR and his government have to go a long way in realizing the dream of Bangaru Telangana.
