Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is now at the centre of national political discussions. This comes after the recent development in Parliament, where it was approved as the permanent capital.
Following this, another key development has taken place. AP IT Minister and TDP leader Nara Lokesh has arrived in Delhi to take forward discussions related to Amaravati.
Lokesh first met NDA MPs from Andhra Pradesh. He thanked them for supporting the Amaravati resolution and standing firm during the parliamentary proceedings.
Reports now suggest that Lokesh is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The purpose of the meeting is to express gratitude for his continued support towards Amaravati.
Lokesh has already met Modi several times in the recent past. However, this meeting holds special importance as it is directly linked to Amaravati’s progress.
Another important development is that the Amaravati resolution will be discussed in the Rajya Sabha for about one hour. This session is expected to be closely observed by Lokesh.
He is likely to use this opportunity to understand parliamentary processes better. It will also help him track how discussions unfold at the national level.
Many expected Chief Minister Chandrababu to lead these efforts in Delhi. Given his experience, it would have seemed like the natural choice.
However, it is Lokesh who is currently taking the lead in the national capital. This move is seen as a strategic step in his growing political role.
