The 2023 Assembly elections made Bharat Rashtra Samithi weaker all of a sudden. Since then, the party is witnessing a steady downfall, without any signs of recovery.
Already, a few BRS-sitting MPs jumped into Congress and the BJP, making the party weak ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Now, it is heard that the many sitting BRS MLAs are also planning to jump into Congress. According to the analysts, everyone except two are three MLAs, the rest of everyone from the Greater Hyderabad region is expected to join the Congress soon.
Already, four MLAs from the joint Medak district met Revanth Reddy in the past, raising doubts about their possible shift to Congress. However, they denied the rumours.
Of late, Bhadrachalam BRS MLA Tellam Venkat Rao has been constantly meeting Reventh Reddy and hinting at his shift into Congress.
Now, we hear that Congress is holding talks with many sitting BRS MLAs from the Greater Hyderabad region. Sources say that most of these MLAs are also interested in shifting to Congress. If that happens, BRS would lose its strength in its fortress, Hyderabad region.
In the 2014 elections, BRS secured 63 out of 119 seats and formed the government. Later, it lured many MLAs from the TDP and Congress under its hood. It used to be weaker in Hyderabad but KCR strategically got almost all Hyderabad MLAs to his party and built a strong cadre.
Now, Revanth Reddy, who won 64 seats, also seems to be following the same strategy and trying to pull as many MLAs as possible into his party. If he succeeds in implementing the plan, it will be a significant blow to the BRS and its political future.
