Dockim Deeshwan McKnight, 34, of Brooklyn, New York, has finally pleaded guilty of possessing large quantities of heroin with the intent of commercial distribution. He is one of the fugitives charged in April 2014.
Ten others were charged along with him, while six were arrested in 2014, the others remained elusive. While two fugitives were arrested in 2017, McKnight remained on the run till May 2022. The remaining two were arrested in Concord, North Carolina. All of them are undergoing trial and will be innocent until proven guilty.
In 2013, it was found that some individuals were obtaining cocaine from outside South Carolina and distributing it in Midlands. Initial evidence indicated that the packets came from India. It was also found that those accused traveled to New York to get heroin and then transported it back to Columbia, where it was distributed.
McKnight will face a minimum of five years with a maximum penalty of 40 years in federal prison. He will also be fined $5,000,000 and at least 4 years of supervision. The others will also get to pay for their role in the drug conspiracy.
