There are three days left until the voting in Andhra Pradesh, and as everyone expected, the state’s political campaign has resembled nothing but a war. But who is leading so far?
Looking at the TDP-Janasena-BJP alliance, everything has been going right for the past few weeks, which are crucial days leading up to voting day. Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Nara Lokesh have been making solo or group public gatherings, exposing YS Jagan’s flip-flops and the state’s descent to rock bottom with zero development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined them, criticizing how AP has become a rotten state under Jagan’s corruption and absolutely no development in a state that still has no capital.
While they remind the public of Jagan’s failures, like not even laying roads in the last five years—a relatable issue along with job calendars and other major issues—the Land Titling Act has emerged as a fresh and critical weapon.
Jagan greedily printed his smiling photo on the most important land passbook, a move that has backfired massively, given it is the hard work of the passbook holder and a most sensitive land document.
Jagan forgot that it is not a ‘Button Nokkudu’ welfare scheme to print his photo, but his obsession with painting government buildings in YCP colors and putting his photo everywhere, which has come back to haunt him with this land passbook.
In short, while CBN, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh are seen everywhere daily, YS Jagan seems to be moving at a snail’s pace.
Jagan concluded a few large-scale, movie pre-release events -like “Siddham” with drone video releases, but once they were over, he was scarcely seen. Oddly, he took three breaks in a single week under the guise of conducting strategic election-related meetings.
Additionally, a speech where Jagan spoke about losing confidence on winning and his comment that alliance partners are managing everyone gave the impression he admitted defeat.
Jagan’s request for CBI permission to go on vacation post-elections also sent a negative signal to everyone. His repetitive use of phrases like ‘Mee bidda’ ‘Mee bidda’ in speeches and odd gestures like ‘ilaa ilaa ilaa’ became fodder for social media trolls.
Furthermore, his interview with a TV channel did more harm than good, failing to convince anyone with his explanations for development and choosing Vizag as the capital.
During a critical time, Jagan’s followers are boasting about the YouTube views for his interviews. However, they overlook the fact that Jagan was not available to the media or the public for the last five years. Therefore, his interview is bound to attract views, whether they are real or paid. Especially after a few clips went viral due to trolling, it’s inevitable that the views for his interview will increase.
Simply put, people are smart and will judge Jagan based on his deliverables over the last five years. If he had really built any infrastructure in the three capitals, his words now carry some credibility, but that is not the case as everyone agrees.
But all Jagan has done is engage in vendetta politics, starting with the demolition of the government-owned building Praja Vedika in Vijayawada. In short, Jagan is now facing significant credibility issues to lead over alliance heads who are confronting him directly to his face.
