CM Revanth Reddy said that while the southern states paid big amounts as taxes to the Center, what they got in return was very less, the Telangana CM spoke at the All-Party meet being held at Chennai.
He said while Tamil Nadu was paying Rs 1 to the Center, they got 26 paise in return. Karnataka was getting 16 praise for Rs 1, while Telangana was getting 42 paise. Kerala was getting 49 paise.

Post giving the stats, the CM said they were against the delimitation proposed by the Center.

BJP is implementing a policy of demograhic penalty started off Revanth. Since 1971, when India placed family planning as national priority, we, the south, controlled population while the north failed.
We became the ‘spectacular south’. We achieved highest economic growth, bigger GDP, higher per capita income, better infrastructure, better governance among other things.

Indira Gandhi carried out delimitation without an increase in seats as it would create an imbalance in political power. Similarly Atal Behari Vajpayee did delimitation in 2001, again not increasing the seats.
PM Modi must also do delimitation in a similar manner. Population based delimitation is not acceptable to south as it will make us secondary citizens dominated by UP, Rajasthan, Bihar and other northern states, said Reddy.
Even pro-rata formula is not acceptable, Revanth Reddy went on to say. He also had suggestions for PM Modi on the issue. The Telangana CM said that Modi must follow on the lines of Vajpayee and do delimitation within states and not do another delimitation for 25 years. He advised Modi to change the Lok Sabha seat boundaries within the states. Increase SC, ST seats in states, provide 33% women’s reservation in all states.
Reddy said he understands the problems of large constituencies as he was MP of Malkajgiri, which is world’s largest Parliamentary constituency. My solution to the issue is that the Center must stop delimitation against south and Punjab and reward us for the economic growth.
The model of south will be an incentive to other states to look at economic growth and good governance.
If the BJP government wants to go ahead with delimitation, they should give the southern states a political proportion of 33% as we have 130 seats out of 543 seats. Anything less, would make south passive audience to politics.
I will pass a resolution in my state Assembly after I go back and I request other southern states to do the same, said Reddy adding that such a move will make the country sit up and look at south.
