Balakrishna and Gopichand Malineni have reportedly locked their much-awaited NBK111 release date on December 24, 2026. The mass action entertainer is being produced on a grand scale by Vriddhi Cinemas and has already created decent curiosity among Nandamuri fans. A December release could have been an attractive option under normal circumstances.
But December 24 is looking extremely crowded this year.
The biggest problem is that Shah Rukh Khan’s King is also scheduled to release on the same day.
For the core Telugu audience, King may not be an overwhelming threat in smaller centers. However, Shah Rukh Khan still has strong pull in Hyderabad and other urban markets. More importantly, this is his big comeback after a gap of more than three years, and the film is being positioned as a massive event film. That means King will certainly demand a significant number of screens, particularly in multiplexes and urban centers.
And that is only one part of the problem.
Avengers: Doomsday and Dune 3 are arriving just a week earlier. Both are major Hollywood franchises with strong audiences in the South, especially in premium multiplexes. If the content works, they could retain a substantial number of screens when NBK111 arrives.
Then comes another headache. Jumanji: Open World is scheduled for December 25, just a day after NBK111 and King. The franchise has strong family appeal and has traditionally worked well with Indian audiences, including Telugu viewers.
So, Balakrishna’s film could potentially find itself squeezed from every direction.
On one side, there is Shah Rukh Khan’s King. From the other side, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three will already be occupying premium screens. And immediately after that comes Jumanji, targeting the family audience.
For a Balakrishna film, the opening in the Telugu states is obviously the primary strength. But losing premium screens in Hyderabad and other big cities could still become a problem.
The question now is whether the makers will actually stick to December 24 or wisely choose a better option.
