A disturbing viral video has raised alarms about the abuse faced by youth in some private defense coaching centers. What’s being justified as “discipline” appears to be outright harassment in the name of training.
Across India, thousands of young aspirants dream of securing government or defense jobs. Many, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, undergo harsh and sometimes humiliating physical coaching, believing it will help them build strength and endurance.
However, this recent incident reveals how easily that line between discipline and abuse can be crossed.
The viral videos allegedly show trainers hitting trainees, including women, during sessions claiming it is part of their preparation for selection tests. Shockingly, these clips were also shared online without the trainees’ consent, turning their suffering into public entertainment.
Netizens have strongly condemned the act, calling it “abuse disguised as discipline.” Many argue that such behavior not only violates human dignity but also exploits the desperation of job seekers.
Experts and activists are demanding immediate government intervention. They urge the authorities to regulate and monitor private coaching institutes to ensure ethical and humane training practices.
Training for defense or public service should empower candidates, not break them. As many social media users have pointed out, those enduring such mistreatment often do so out of sheer survival instinct a reality society can no longer afford to ignore.
Nowadays, in defence coaching, harassment is done in the name of coaching and then their videos are uploaded on social media without the permission of the students.
I request the government to stop this type of coaching as soon as possible.
