Infosys is cracking down on work-from-home days for its employees with their new enforced hybrid model.

According to a new report, the IT giant now mandates employees to work at least 10 days from the office in a month. Starting March 10th, this rule applies to anyone below job level 5.

With this move, Infosys joins the trend of IT companies shifting from remote work. Earlier TCS already linked bonuses to office attendance, while Wipro enforces a three-day-a-week rule.

Supporters argue that working from the office will increase a team’s collaboration and productivity. However, mandating a minimum amount of time from the office and cutting off any extra remote work as “leaves” can lead to frustration among employees.

There is also the question of why only mid-level techies are targeted by the company, while seniors can enjoy more flexibility in work-from-home policies.

Moreover, there is no justification from the IT giants for this sudden shift towards hybrid work. If the work can be done remotely from different locations, is there a need to force people to shift near the office and travel to do the same job?

Forcing attendance doesn’t always mean better results. With global firms offering more flexibility, only time will tell if this move really creates more productivity or backfires for Indian tech giants.
